Sylenth1 presets are a shortcut worth taking. There’s a quick breakdown below on why reaching for a preset is a smart move.
A Bit About Sylenth
Sylenth1 is a VST synthesizer that’s become a staple in EDM. Developed by LennarDigital, it’s known for producing analog-style sounds through a simple interface. That combination of ease and sound quality has made it popular across electronic music genres.
Here are some big EDM names that use Sylenth and songs that feature the synth:
- Martin Garrix - Animals
- Hardwell - Spaceman
- Zedd - Clarity
- Deadmau5 - Strobe
It’s Ok To Use Presets
One of the key benefits of using Sylenth presets is that they can help producers stay inspired and creative. Music production can be a time-consuming process, and creative ruts happen. Presets provide a starting point, allowing producers to experiment with different sounds and find inspiration for their next track. Even experienced producers use presets frequently, as they can provide new and unique sounds that they may not have thought of themselves.
To some, there’s an ethical stigma against using presets. We believe that mindset is counterproductive to creating good art. Presets save you time and effort and can remove critical roadblocks to creating an idea. When inspiration strikes, it can be fleeting. And you don’t want to let the ego of presets keep you from creating your masterpiece.
In addition, Sylenth presets allow you to learn sound design. By analyzing and modifying presets, producers can learn about the different parameters and settings used to create specific sounds. So in turn, using presets is ok because it opens a gateway to creating your own.
Pro Tip: Don’t just load a preset and play it as-is. Take 10 minutes to tweak it, adjust the filter cutoff, change the reverb, add some saturation. This way, you’re learning while still getting the efficiency of a starting point.
Once you’ve got a bank of presets loaded, layering them together is where the real magic happens. Here’s a quick breakdown of how to layer sounds effectively so your patches go from “good preset” to “signature sound.”

Take these presets and experiment with them. Try them on different tracks, adjust the settings to fit your needs. And layer them together to create unique sounds. The key is understanding how each preset was built. Pay attention to the settings and try to replicate them in your own sound design work. That’s how you learn.
